That's right, June 22! That's the day my new recording, "When I Get Old," will be officially available!
On that day physical CDs and digital downloads will be available. And even better, you can pre-order them and be one of the first to get it! I'll be sending out instructions for pre-ordering in the next week.
I've been working towards this date for a long time. Like many of us I've had years of other commitments, of other people depending on me to take care of what needed to be done. Still, I also kept writing and playing songs. Some inner desire, some drive to say something, some kind of wish kept me going. And now I am stepping out more into the public eye to share my songs, songs that mean so much to me. I imagine many of you out there have your own desires, your own wishes that you won't give up on, things that help you keep going.
Let's face it, I'm no longer a teeny-bopper or a hormone-driven young adult. When I was young those were the age groups that popular music was sold to. I like love songs, but what comes after the love songs? Writing songs that go beyond the youthful pop perspective. Our music can mature as we do. I believe adults need songs too, songs that speak of our lives and experiences. We've seen birth, children, friends getting old, we've seen parents dying. The future is in the headlights, and I plan to do what I can with whatever time I have left. I want that to be through my songs.
Through decades of the routines of making a living, I've tried to keep the flame going. The routine can leave you numb, but I've done my best to keep the vision alive, carry the flame, feed my desire to connect. I strive for mature songwriting for listeners of all ages. Family, children, caring for parents, passing it on, what do we leave behind? What can we care about next?
Most of all, it's a desire to connect, to share what matters to me, and to find the people who care about what I do.
